Wetlands are among the most biologically diverse ecosystems and play several important roles in the environment. Sweden and many other countries aim at restoring wetland areas in order to increase biodiversity and reduce excess nutrient runoff into streams and lakes. In a collaboration between the Bergius Botanic Garden and the National Property Board, this area, once drained to increase the arable has once again become a wetland.
